we went to hume lake & i have [51!] pictures to prove it.

where i bunked 10 years ago!

the view that never gets old.

big teeth & bad roots is how i roll.

audrey. don't look so excited.

this moss was insanely neon green. what a trendy tree. lol!
oh, sweet mercy.
the cheese fries were exactly how i remembered them.
gretchen! i thought of you the whole time!

you guys.
i camped.

well, we were put up in a boys cabin with 10 bunks,
but still.
i didn't shower for 4 days...
and there were big black ants crawling on the floor in the room...

so, yeah.
i camped.

the last time i was at hume was in 2002, when tim & i first started dating.
dating!
i broke up with him there a few times, but whatever.
i should totally bring out the old pictures,
but another day kids.
another day.

we worked there that summer.
oh, that summer.
such good memories came-a-flooding.

it was so weird to be back.
especially at their down time with no campers.
but we came so tim & some guys could help rebuild the wagons for the junior high camp.
while the boys worked all day, karen+i were able to play, and hike, and chase kids, and eeeeeat. heh.

some things i want to remember:
my girls can do a 6+ hour road trip no problem.
my husband picks his nose when he drives.
my favorite smell in the whole wide world is orange blossoms on the orange trees.
i can go 4 days without washing my hair and get away with it [thank you bandanas!]
camp food is good.
real good.
eden doesn't like a pack-n-play very much.
i can be at breakfast at 745. i did it guys! i did it!
bear poop is really big.
i want to be more hospitable like the foster family.
audrey can get away with wearing her pjs all day long.
tim is mighty cute in construction clothes.
a+e were in heaven with mason as their neighbor.
mountain air is so clean.
i am a whiney poophead to my husband when i'm camping.
i love my friends.
[and that my friends have an ipad w kid movies when you're really wanting to nap! ehem!]
not having reception is like a breath of fresh air.
a+e lost their tooth on the same day! [same tooth, too. so strange. another post, promise.]

i still don't like camping.
well, i kinda do.
give me a chance.
i'm gonna get there.

thank you, hume.
you have the same smell.
the same feel.
and your stars are amazing.
i still like you just the same as i did when i was 20.

I went camping myself this weekend! There is nothing like the woods, campfires, and fresh air to make you feel like your getting away from it all!

Never been. Looks amazingly peaceful! I like camping, sounds like I'll hafta show you around yosemite sometime. Although Ive never tried it with kiddos, ha! The twin tooth loss is crazy! And the bear suit, gah! I love me a cute bear. ;)

I thought I saw eden in the nursery yesterday, but that was probably just wishful thinking. :)

Hey I just came to see your blog after seeing your comment on emeryjo.blogspot's last "installment" of her amazing story...somehow I used to follow you on tumblr and just recently was like "hey where have posts about those cute twins been?" haha

anyway, I worked end of summer at Hume in 2002 and lived in Bear Paw room 8. Small world!! (I then did summer 03, joshua wilderness institute that year, summer again, then off and on again for outdoor ed and summers between trips to work in Jamaica...) anyway...

Hume.
in jamaica, I met people from arizona who were hume campers!
and now I live in Australia and am assuming I'll eventually meet someone from Hume here, too haha
