up a lazy river, how happy we could be.

it happened again.
4th year.
friendymoon.
(if you want to catch up, here's 1, 2, &3)

what a lucky gal i am to have a best friend like melinda.
we met in 6th grade & we stuck like glue.
we have the same horsey smile.
& a love for squeeze cheese.
she learned all her jokes from me.
really. ask anyone.

this year, she took me (well, us this time) to palm desert.
[we decided to cart the girls along. she always wants a&e to come. & i say no. but this time i said yes.
if i could bring my mom. best idea ever.]

God heard my mom's prayers for cooler weather, too.
ha. it was only 102. thanks, God.

we were wined & dined & spoiled rotten as we went round & round the lazy river.
(also known as las palmas resort)
[AND i got to see my mother in a bathing suit for the first time in 20 years. it was pretty awesome.]

oh! & nobody got sunburned. double awesome.

we romped around that place like we owned the joint.
& we di-n't even care who saw us jiggle in our suits.
(melinda doesn't have much left to jiggle. dang her).

'cause when you're on vacation, & you don't know a darn soul, you get to walk around in your bathing suit with no shame. & you get to squeeze your big butt in that small tube & float on down the river. word? word.

in short, we did this:

& my cell phone says we also did some of this:

it was a happy one, that 4th friendymoon.
glorious, relaxing, & happy.

the kind where your mouth hurts afterwards from smiling+laughing so much.
that's good.

that mel. she's a keeper.
she really, really is.

hey mel! i found this song by louis! it's totally our theme song for friendymoon 4!

[up a lazy river by the old mill stream,
that lazy, hazy river where we both can dream.
linger in the shade of an old oak tree,
throw away your troubles, dream a dream with me.]

san fransisco top ten.

i have so much to say & share about my mini trip to san fransisco. i have 3 favorite cities in the whole world. san fran, santa monica, & cinque terre, italy. i could live in any of those for the rest of my life & i would be one happy girl. san fran definitely didn't let me down. $25 tickets one way? i'm there.

my top top ten memories:
1. our plane ride & how it oh, came to a jolting dead STOP right after taking off! just a lil' nose slip on the slick road from the rain made the plane do that. that's all. i screamed & said goodbye to everyone i love in my head. no big deal.

2. learning the bart & the the f-line & the bus stations & how to transfer from the 30 to the 28, back to the 30. we were old pros by the time we left.

3. the shopping! oh, the shopping! supersized everythings. 3 story anthropologie? yes please. how about a 3 story forever21? be still my heart. just around the corner to urban outfitters? okay then! a 9 story nordys we never even made it to? this girls heaven, but my husband thanks you i'm sure. thank you union square. i will forever compare every shopping experience to you from now until forever.

4. the food. let's just say homemade guacamole, made fresh to order AT YOUR TABLE. i know, right? we almost died right then & there. & don't get me started on plutos, my new favorite cafe that is only located in oh, NORTHERN CALIFORNIA! geesh, i would fly back just to get a turkey sandwich. i just might.

5. taking 100 timer pics by the san fransisco bridge. pretty awesome with all the "tourists" laughing at us. we so were the tourists. call it what it is.

6. following the cutest english guy to the san fransisco bridge so melinda could get married & live happily ever after. he didn't even acknowledge we existed, but, whatever.

7. walking the streets of chestnut & market, talking like we really lived there. we'd meet for coffee right under our little city loft, & then hop on the f-line to do a little shopping, & then maybe meet for coffee again before heading off to yoga. because everyone knows all the true san fransiscans ever do is drink coffee at cute lil' cafes. dreaming is so much fun to do.

8. bundling up in beanies. & scarves. & long pretty pea coats. & fur. & mittens. oh, & the hat hair that comes with cute beanies. being so cold, & then walking in a store only to get so hot. walking in a sprinkle of rain only to watch it start hailing! even the locals were impressed by the weather. pretty awesome. i love the cold when you're all bundled.

how pretty is melinda in this picture? she's single. & her good looks got us free hot cocoa from a local fella. maybe she'll marry him so i'll have a free place to stay when i visit again. i'm her wingman. call me to call her. you won't be sorry. she's gonna kill me...byyyyyye.

9. a late night mcdonald's run (good thing i was with a cop. nuff said.). a movie in a sleep numbers bed (booyah!). new christmas pjs. sleeping in. talking to my best friend about faith & fear & love & life with no interuptions. not a toddler in sight! imagine that!

10. getting the call that our flight home had been cancelled! what? cancelled? darn. we might just hafta live here forever. we were totally okay with that. but then, they went & got us on the next flight out. double darn.
