christmas bests.

  •  a christmas eve breakfast + my weak attempt at mickey mouse pancakes. (if you know me, you know that i shudder at the mention of pancakes & sausage. so this was a big moment for me.)
  • christmas eve with tim's family. & a photo shoot on the good ol' swing.

  • the christmas eve service at church. it's always a highlight.
um, who is this child snuggling a baby pit bull? definitely not mine.
  • opening presents on christmas eve after church. just tim, a+e, & me. perfect.
  • waking up too early on christmas morning (& feeling the need to take my picture. you're welcome.)
  • hearing audrey say, "mommy, the reindeer spit out our cookies!"
  • the joy on a+e's face when opening their stockings.
  • how much my husband spoiled me (even though we said no gifts. i should never believe him)

  • watching a+e play & play with their new christmas goods.

  • a bittersweet time with my lovely grandma.
  • holding a snake named nacho, & living to talk about it.

  • christmas dinner with my family.
  • my mom's chicken & potato & salad goodness! oh, was it glorious. it deserves it's own line.
  • my brother finally breaking my 2 year streak in finding the pickle. it's a game, people.
  • watching everyone in my entire family get a year pass to dland! (& you know a post about our first trip back is coming soon) what the what. ohmy.
  • my uncle modeling his new wife beater at the dinner table. my brother has the pics. darn!
  • sitting around the table telling our best christmas memories, which then turned into our funniest memories of papa. (we had some good ones.) then turned into tim's worst 911 calls. oy.

but best of all, what brought tim & i the most joy this christmas, were our girls. the joy they brought to the table at this age is what i want to remember most. audrey's little innocent christmas prayer before bed. ellie's face the entire day. like everything was a surprise. & it just kept getting better. the simple truth that what we really celebrate on christmas is Jesus' birthday. & we get to continue to celebrate him all year long.

he came & died so i could live. and that is most definitely a christmas best.

1. not like pancakes and sausage? um how is this even remotely possible? we will have to discuss this apparent anomaly in greater detail missy.

2. did you go to Christmas eve service at church barefoot, LOL?

3. snuggling a baby pit bull? Hm. nother anomaly. It is awfully cute, but you know it could bite her head right off, right;)

4.you look so cute yawning on your pillow, I will forgive your lack of zest for sausage and pancakes. maybe.

I love these bests. I keep hearing that 'Christmas is about the events, not the stuff.' Soooo true-as evidenced here.

I was looking at your adorable pics thinking how cute your girls are always dressed, then I see you and think how cute YOU are always dressed. You got style! :)
