what i learned about camping.

1. when the clouds start rollin' in the night before you're s'posed to leave (& it's been hotter than hot for weeks prior), there's your sign.
2. if you look like the beverly hillbillies as you're driving away to go camping, you've probably overpacked.
3. if you have a lantern within reach of a 3 year old, she'll probably touch it, causing hours of screaming torture, & it will suck.
4. sand is not my friend. it never will be.
5. when the tent falls on you at least 4x in the middle of the night because it's so bleeping windy you just know a tsunami is going to hit at any minute & you're saying "oh, please Lord, i don't wanna die this way," it's time to go home.
6. i'm a hotel person. duh.

at least i got some cute pictures out of the deal.

my hunka hunka burnin' love.
tourists?
they could've played here for days.
we didn't even make it 2 days. we both looked at each other & said "we're over this" at the same time. pathetic. margarita anyone?
whoever said camping is fun is a big fat liar.
the end.

p.s. if you see tim, give him a hug. he has to live with me.

hahahaha oh man, i was laughing the whole time i read this! camping with toddlers is no bueno for sure!! willy and i tried it once too at the same place :) and it was a disaster! the train woke us up all night long and we were freezing cold. we woke up wet too from all the stinking fog. The boys were so cranky and so were we! We packed up early and went home. hahaha maybe it will be better when everyone is older and we have RVs!!! or, we can just stick to hotels!! At least you gave it a shot!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this!
I always think, "maybe something is wrong with me. Should I give it another try?" But time and again I realized just how much I too hate sand! :)

ok, i loved what you said in your first line, "there's your sign" it sounded like a 'red-neck' joke. which you may not even have heard of, it could just be a nebraska thing.....silly hicks ;)

and i think you should blow up (like make bigger, not use explosives, silly) the picture of your girlies holding hands, strollin along the path by the beach. ADORABLE. hang it somewhere, anywhere, heck i'll hang it in my hizzie!

and i love that you tried camping. even if it looked stormy. now that you've documented this crazy adventure, you will look back and laugh as you read it.

and i will give tim a virtual hug. although, i think u are the most FAB wifey momma ever. and i would go camping with you anyday :) (im sure tents falling down and sand, possibly in cracks/crevices, are not the most delightful thing to deal with - for anyone)

and.i love ur side braid.

xoxo

I'm right there woth you Molly - I hate camping! We did it once, when our 1st two girls were 5 and 3 years old. They had fun, but we were dirty and tired and the campground restroom had BATS in it at night (imagine 2 preschoolers who need to go potty with BATS!)Sold our camper after that, been hotels all the way since. Hotels are mom's refuge. :)

Luckily, my hubby is not really into camping so I don't think we will even attempt it any time soon. I'm not a huge fan either. Stay in a hotel. Go to the beach for the day. Or stay in a cabin and go to the woods/mountains for the day....that's how I roll :o)

i hate hate HATE camping at the beach. HATE IT. We grew up with a travel trailer... our "camping" was in a nice grassy trailer park. with showers. and a pool. and within walking distance of a killer mexican food restaurant.

I don't even pretend to like camping. I wasn't born with that gene. the only camping we will be doing in the near future is setting up a tent of blankets in the living room and then retiring to our own bed by 9PM.

good for you for at least giving it a go! and mmmm. MARGIES! :)

So we have been debating between getting a tent or a pop up. I was finally on board with the tent thing and then I read this and Allison's response. I think that was the tent we were going to get too...weird!

I don't understand people who like to camp. I think it's weird. People weren't meant to sleep outside. We were meant to sleep indoors with little mints on our pillows! :)
